Born in Berlin on 17 February 1909 as the son of an architect, Dr. Voll soon developed an interest in technology and as a radio amateur during his high school years laid the foundation for his later research in Electro-Acupuncture. After graduating from high school he followed in his father’s footsteps and took up studies in architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart only to find out that medicine was his real vocation. His interest during medical studies at the Universities of Tuebingen and Hamburg soon focused on anatomy and it is only with a sound basis in human anatomy that modern acupuncture can be practiced effectively. During his medical career Dr. Voll engaged in preventive medicine both in industry and child welfare and settled down as a medical practitioner in Southern Germany in 1943. As early as 1953 he began practicing Electro-Acupuncture and since 1959 has exclusively devoted his entire medical activity to this newly developed science. In 1956 he founded and intensively promoted the Association for Electro-Acupuncture, which was changed into an international organization in 1961 with Dr. Voll as the president until 1972, when he became honorary president.
Back in the late 1940's, Dr. Reinholt Voll, MD began an investigation of the effects of electricity on the human physiology. In his studies, Dr. Voll used a technique known as impedance or OHM metering. An OHM meter measures electrical resistance, and is also capable of measuring conductance since the inverse of resistance is conductance. Dr. Voll found that if he tested the electrical conductance on any general area of the human body, there was a fairly high level of electrical resistance. This is a curious point since we know that the body has a large volume of electrically conductive fluids within it. But, the skin is very resistant, by its nature to electrical current. Dr. Voll also found that at certain specific locations on the anatomy, the electrical flow is much more conductive, and these points generally correspond to the Eastern Medical Acupuncture points. Therefore, you can use an impedance or OHM meter to test the acupuncture points. Dr. Voll soon discovered that when an internal organ's function or structure changes, the performance of the related meridian and acupuncture points also changed, and that this change could be measured using a device. The name given to this system is EAV or Electro-Acupuncture according to Dr. Voll. EAV assessments indirectly measure the "Energetic System" of the body. It does not measure the physiology, the biochemistry or pathology components of the human body. However, the "Energetic System" is related to these components, from the standpoint of physics, not chemistry.

At Vital Health, Inc., we utilize the EAV system (ElectroAcupuncture According to Voll), providing an extraordinary new perspective on the state of the body's energetic health.
According to European medical research, acupuncture points are related to the body's organs and organ systems. Major groups of points are connected through channels, or meridians. Twenty of these meridians begin or end on the hands and feet. As a client moves toward or away from health, the condition of any particular organ or system can be sensed along the meridians at representative points. As a result, stress associated with the corresponding organs can be surveyed with the EAV system using the indicated points.
After the initial measurements have been taken and recorded, the results can be reviewed. If stress values are above or below equilibrium, a wide range of possibilities that might help the client regain a healthy balance are evaluated, such as herbal, homeopathic, and nutritional products.
